Merci aux lecteurs de mon blog qui m’ont signalé une erreur. P. 30 on lit en effet cette étonnante phrase :

 

« As France was deprived of its Canadian possessions (New France) its colonial empire was reduced to five islands located in the Indian Ocean-Saint Domingue, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana and the Mascarene Islands (including today's Réunion and Mauritius). »

 

Après vérification de mon manuscrit original, il s’avère que c’est l’éditeur qui a introduit cette erreur, qui a échappé à ma vigilance lors de  la relecture des épreuves.

 

Sur mon manuscrit d'origine, la phrase était:

« As France was also deprived of its Canadian possessions (New France) its colonial empire was reduced to Saint Domingue, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana and Mascareignes (islands in the Indian ocean, including today’s Réunion and Mauritius). »

 

Je confirme que la Guyane n’est pas une île et que la Martinique et la Guadeloupe ne sont pas dans l’Océan Indien…Ah les éditeurs parisiens et la géographie des DOM  …
